Blocks from Fish Creek Park

Built in 2015, our community offers supportive living and long-term care studio suites. A neighbourhood concept, each neighbourhood has 8 to 30 suites, a dining room, living room, lounges and recreation room complete with a country kitchen.

Providence Care Centre opened in January 2016 and today, we are home to 160 residents who are no longer able or safe to remain in their own home. Located in the cozy neighbourhood of Midnapore, we are just footsteps from Fish Creek Park.

Walking through the front doors, you are greeted with lots of natural light spilling into the Rewucki Great Room. Over in a corner sits a baby grand piano which is wonderful at attracting pianists and musical groups to entertain the residents. Bistro 1910 is a favourite gathering spot for residents and their visitors. A private dining room is available for booking smaller family gatherings.

There are seven neighbourhoods in the three-story building. One floor is dedicated to residents requiring Supportive Living or Supportive Living with Dementia. On the first and second floors are residents requiring Long Term Care. Designed around the neighbourhood concept, each neighbourhood has 8 to 30 resident private suites, a dining room, living room, lounges and a recreation room complete with a country kitchen.

All resident rooms throughout Providence are single rooms with their own ensuite consisting of a toilet, sink, shower and safety bars. We provide a hospital bed, dresser, night stand and small fridge in each room. Family members are encouraged to bring in a favourite chair and other small furnishings to create a feeling of home. Televisions, art work and family photos are also encouraged.

There is the Mother Emile Gamelin Courtyard with pathways and benches to enjoy the outdoors. The Healing Garden is specially designed to engage residents living with advanced dementia and their families to enjoy a stroll in the garden or rest under the pergola and enjoy the birds. Raised gardens are an ideal place to do plantings and enjoy the perfumes of the flowers or the herbs.

The well-appointed R. A. Hemstock Library is located on the third floor; a great place for a game of cards, a jigsaw puzzle or stretch out with a good book. Across the hall is the Maunders R. McNeil Occupational and Physical Therapy Centre for long term care residents.
