Long Term Care Residence
Fish Creek forms the beautiful backdrop for Father Lacombe Care Centre located in the cozy neighborhood of Midnapore. The doors opened in 1965 and today we are home to 114 residents who are no longer safe or able to remain in their own homes. There are 36 single rooms and 39 double rooms, all equipped with a toilet and sink, hospital bed, a wardrobe, dresser and night stand. Families are encouraged to bring in a favorite chair, artwork for the walls, family photos and a colorful bedspread.
From the moment you walk in the front door, you are greeted by a wide open space used for lots of social gatherings, recreational programs and physical activities. Pull up a chair and be mesmerized by the centrally located fish tank in the lobby.
Located behind the great room is the chapel that is open 24/7 for residents, family members, staff and volunteers to join in a religious service or to just take some time to meditate and reflect.
Off to the right of the chapel is the central dining room where several residents choose to take their meals in the brightly light room. Other residents may choose to eat in their neighborhoods on one of the more intimate dining rooms.
Other areas found in the core of the building include the business office, the board room, private dining room ideal for family gatherings, a tuck shop that offers a walk down memory lane and a hairdressing/ barber shop.
The east and west neighborhoods branch out from the core area with resident rooms, a dining room and the sun rooms. Access to secured courtyards are off the sun rooms and offer places to sit, umbrellas for shade, wandering paths and lots of vegetation and raised gardens. Occasionally we receive a visit from the variety of birds, small creatures and deer that live in Fish Creek.
